Cardano Turns Five: Cardano Founding Entity EMURGO Celebrates Strength of Blockchain and its Businesses

Happy Birthday Cardano

The Cardano blockchain officially turned 5 years old in September 2022.

Since the production of the genesis block of the Cardano blockchain five years ago, Cardano has grown rapidly to become one of the largest blockchain networks by market capitalization with an expanding global community.

EMURGO – the official commercial arm and a founding entity of the Cardano blockchain – and its Cardano ecosystem partners Input Output Global (IOG) and Cardano Foundation are excited to commemorate this special milestone and look forward to the next five years and beyond to see what’s in store for Cardano.

With the recent Vasil hard fork upgrade to improve Cardano scalability and the developer experience, Cardano continues to improve the network to onboard new users, developers, and Web3 projects to its ecosystem.

The Cardano blockchain has a native cryptocurrency ADA that is utilized as an incentive to secure its open network through staking and which can also be used to transfer value peer-to-peer for NFTs, DeFi, and other transaction types.

Cardano offers self-custodial staking through personal wallets such as Yoroi, meaning ADA holders can stake their ADA for rewards as well as retain full control to unstake and move their ADA at any time.
