EMURGO Launches Beta Version of Yoroi Wallet DApp Connector

SINGAPORE APRIL 15 2021 / EMURGO Ptd. Ltd. – EMURGO, a global emerging technologies company providing custom-built solutions to solve the most complex problems of organizations and a founding entity of the Cardano protocol, is excited to announce the global test release of Yoroi Wallet’s DApp Connector.

This will effectively pave a way for Cardano ADA and Ergo ERG users to make effortless DApp transactions on Ergo’s blockchain network through Yoroi Wallet – a secure light wallet developed by EMURGO with 100,000+ users each on Android, iOS, and Google Chrome Extension.

With a huge rise in the overall DeFi sector (currently more than $53B USD in total value locked) and rapidly expanding Cardano and Ergo communities worldwide, this test release is another monumental development that will enable the smooth transfer between token types issued on Cardano and Ergo. Yoroi’s DApp Connector allows more incentives for developers to actively build DeFi solutions and services on Cardano and Ergo that can easily transfer between both networks. Cardano ADA and ERG users can then easily interact with these token types via Yoroi.

A couple of months ago, Cardano successfully added support for user-defined native tokens and multi-assets through the Mary hard fork, further improving interoperability with other blockchain networks. The imminent arrival of smart contract functionality on Cardano is also on course for sometime in the near future with the upcoming Alonzo hard fork and arrival of Goguen, highlighting the increasing need for educating prospective Plutus (smart contract language of Cardano) developers through the recently launched Plutus Pioneers program.

“EMURGO is excited for Yoroi users in the Cardano, Ergo, and blockchain communities to be able to access more services including DeFi on Ergo and on Cardano in the future. We are consistently looking to add more of these valued services to Yoroi to make it the financial gateway to the future,” said Sebastien Guillemot, EMURGO Co-VP of Engineering & Cardano PM.

“DApp Connector was very much needed for a seamless DEX experience, SigUSD nominated auctions, and other DeFi applications which already exist or will be released soon. With it, Yoroi users will get a much better user experience with DeFi on Ergo. Cardano users will also get a similar experience after Goguen,” said Alexander Chepurnoy, Ergo Core Developer.

Last year, EMURGO announced a strategic partnership with Ergo – a proof-of-work blockchain protocol built to be a platform for applications with a main focus on developing simple solutions for financial contracts – to collaborate on stablecoin R&D, explore the development of decentralized financial services applications (DeFi), and integrate Ergo’s native ERG token into Yoroi Wallet, while also providing a solid bridge between the Cardano and Ergo communities.
